Farsace, Adriana J.

Chili: Monday, May 22, 2017. Predeceased by her parents, John and Sara DeRooy. Survived by her daughters, Debbie Battaglia and Rhonda (Patrick) Powarzynski; grandchildren, Nicholas, Joseph and Jessica Battaglia, Peyton and Logan Powarzynski; sisters, Jozina Marshall and Betsy Orbaker.

Born on Dec. 17, 1933 in Groede, Netherlands. Adriana was an amazing woman. She was many things to many people - a friend, a mother, a sister, a grandmother, and a survivor. One of her favorite passions was cooking. Her dishes always had amazing flavor. She could feed a multitude of people on a pound of sauasage and 5 pounds of potatos.

Her places of employment were as follows: Timely Clothes 1951-54 & 1957-60, General Dynamics (Gov't Work) 1960-65, Eastman Kodak 1965-69, Carvel Store Owner, Ft. Lauderdale, FL 1969-74, Sibley's  (Cosmetics Dept.) 1974-78 and Eastman Kodak again  from 1978 until her retirement in 1991.

She loved gardening, as seen in the beautiful gardens around her home. She could always bring dead plants back to life-she always said it was the soil.

And like her sister, Jozina, she loved crafting. Be it sewing or glueing or nailing and painting, she was very creative.

She loved her grandchildren above all else. Always beaming when they came around. Always bragging and showing pictures - even on Facebook and emails. She tried to keep up with the new way of communicating.

And she loved this country. She always said, "We are so lucky here. People should be grateful." Our family's patriotism comes from her - a foreigner from Europe.

And she genuinely loved people. Acquaintances became friends, friends became family. "Everyone has a story" she would say. She opened her heart and her home to all.

So sad for us who have to go on without her  in our lives.

Friends may call at the Leo M. Bean and Sons Funeral Home, Thursday 4-7. Prayers at 7 PM.
