Esther J. Connors

Esther J. Connors, age 89, of Rochester, NY, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2018.  Calling hours will be 2-5 PM on Sunday, September 23, at Leo M. Bean and Sons Funeral Home.  A funeral mass will be held at St. Helen’s Church, 310 Hinchey Rd. at 10:00 AM on Monday, September 24.  Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Born March 30, 1929, Esther made many life-long friends at St. Peter and Paul grade school, Madison High School (‘47), and St. Thomas the Apostle and St. Helen’s parishes.  She left her secretarial job at Kodak to devote herself to her growing family of seven sons in Irondequoit, NY.  She was blessed to see her children, and older grandchildren, grow into compassionate adults and was proud of their outstanding accomplishments.  Esther also relished in the laughter and play of her younger grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  As her children grew older, Esther returned to the workforce, including many years employment as a leading salesperson at McCurdy’s in the Irondequoit Plaza.  She then enjoyed a long retirement with her loving husband of 63 years, Edward W. Connors.

Esther is preceded in death by her parents, James W. and Julia (Foley) Doyle, her brother Rev. James F. Doyle, and her son Daniel B. (Kathy Jo, and husband Wayne).  In addition to her husband Edward, Esther is survived by sons Robert E. (Helene), John J. (John Erhart), Lawrence J. (Mary), Joseph M.  (Jaya), Thomas W. (Cathy), and James P. (Jessica).  Also left to grieve her loss, are her sister Catherine (Ernest) Stanton, eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Her family wishes to thank the dedicated care partners of Cottage Grove Memory Care for their empathetic support.  Memorial donations to Alzheimer’s Association, 435 E Henrietta Rd., Rochester, NY 14620, are also appreciated.
