Jack and I met to discuss his options when retiring from the Fire Department. Always a great smile and laugh to accompany that raspy voice. One of our meetings took place at Jay's Diner, apparently one of his favorite restaurants. Jack brought joy!

What a great guy "Murph" was. I, an RPD Retiree, workedwith "Murph" (and Bob Cunningham) at the "old" Holiday Inn at Main & St. Paul when he was assigned to the Arson Task Force and worked at the HI part time in Security. You could always count on Murph being there as a back-up for any call and his instincts and knowledge were always spot-on (when his sense of humor did not take over his personality). I have many fond memories of our times there and he made working more fun than work. My condolences to the family and best wishes to all who remember him fondly, as do I! Gary Birkahn, RPD, Retired (and Holiday Inn - Retired too!).

I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER "MURPH" FOR HIS HUMOR AND HIS ABILITY AS A FIREFIGHTER AND AS A BOSS. AS I HAVE ALWAYS SAID HE WAS THE BEST BOSS I EVER HAD. IN ALL MY YEARS IN THE FIRE SERVICE I NEVER WORKED OR MET ANYONE WHO COULD COMPARE. GOD BLESS HIS SOUL. THANK YOU JACK FOR THE GREAT MEMORIES.
