Kenneth (Kenny) James Simpson

Thursday December 31, 2020.  Survived by parents Dianne & Elliote, sisters Krystal and Helina, brother Matthew, grandmother Helen, nieces Daphne and Sage, aunt Paulina Schiffer, uncles Paul Schiffer, Tai Lafaele, Terrence (Michelle), Tony (Jannette), Kenneth (Jackie) Simpson, Paul (Lillieth) and Devon (Pam) Christopher and many cousins and cherished friends too numerous to mention.

Kenny was born in San Diego California on August 29, 1990.  He moved, with his family to Rochester, NY at the age of 9 where he graduated from Gates-Chili High School, attended The Father’s House church and developed his love for music.  He began writing song lyrics and creating his own music at the age of 11.  Kenny went on to write many songs, produce melodies & beats, collaborate with other artists and compete in music competitions.

From the time he was a toddler, Kenny’s interest in music was evident.  Typically a higher energy child, he would stand frozen, in front of the tv, whenever a Michael Jackson video aired.  This seemed odd until we realized that he shared a birthday with the King of Pop.  As a young child, when playing the last note at his piano recital, he would turn to the crowd as if to say “You may now applaud”.

A true Renaissance Man, Kenny also tried his hand at writing a novel, assisting in home renovations, designing clothing & logos, experimenting with food recipes and collaborating on cake designs for formal events.  He possessed a high level of creativity, in so many different areas, it was difficult to keep up with his many interests.

Kenny was a star that shown so brightly that his energy lit-up every room that he entered.  He loved you with all of his might, encouraged you intensely and his embrace enveloped you genuinely.  You welcomed his next visit, anticipated his next performance, marveled at his many impersonations and belly-laughed at his retelling of past experiences.

There was only one mode: all-out.  One speed: full speed ahead.  One level: super-high.  And one goal: to enjoy life.  Consider all of the people you know, or have ever met.  You’ve likely never met anyone that compares to Kenny, and you likely never will.  You could not know him and your life not have been impacted by your connection to him.

The Bible tells us of the gloriousness of Heaven.  Heaven is a little more glorious today.
Kenny was special in so many ways and we will miss him greatly.

Family and friends may call from 3-6pm on Thursday, January 7, 2020.  Please come dressed inspired by Kenny’s style: light, bright and fashionable.  Private service to follow. Please follow all CDC guidelines regarding face masks and social distancing.

There will also be a Zoom meeting available for the private funeral service beginning at 6:30PM Thursday, January 7th. The information is as follows:

My dearest Kenny, You are gone way too soon. I am still in complete shock. You were in my life for 13 years. Not a brother by blood but my choice. You taught me so much. I’ll never forget all our memories together. All our laughter, singing, dancing and just being in one another's presence. I would give anything to see you once more. Thank you for your unconditional love and support. Thank you for being in my life. Sing with the angels now, until we meet again, Kenny. To the Simpson family, I am sending you so much love right now. My heart aches for all of you. I love you all and I am so sorry for this loss. Kenny was a bright spirit with a heart of gold. I am forever thankful he was in my life. I am sure you know how much Kenny meant to not only me but others as well. He touched so many lives. I am sending you so much love and comfort at this time. Sincerely, - Giselle

I never knew or met Kenny until 12/25/2019, Christmas Day at my Aunt Linda house. From the moment he said "Hi Family" the house became Home....My first time meeting him for the first time was full of fun, love and joy.. So much so, that he drove down to Miami with us for the day...Man Kenny was so outgoing and funny...That's why I'm just in straight and utter distraught that he's no longer with us.. Love u so much cousin, I'm so gonna miss u.. Jenelle

Such beautiful words describing Kenny!! I only knew a smidgeon of Kenny, yet I was marked by the encounter. His love for people so genuine and I felt it each time we embraced. I will miss his light...his smile..his humility when it came to his abilities. My heart is broken.... Yet, I know one day I will get to see him once again. Praying for all of you.

To my dearest nephew Kenny, I still cannot believe that you have moved on to heaven at such a young age. There are no words to describe what we all feel and how much you will be missed. The impact you had on all our lives will last forever. You always had so much love for everyone and were inspirational through your music. Whenever you showed up at gatherings or out at an event you had a way to make the atmosphere that much happier. You brought life and love everywhere you went! Kenny, you will be Forever Loved & Never Forgotten!! 2 Cor. 5:1 For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. Love, Uncle Billy

Sending my condolences and sympathy to the entire family. Kenny was truly unique - one of a kind, original, special in every way. I was knocked off my feet, the first time I saw him sing and play piano. He was a teenager with limitless musical potential at the time, and his genuine talent was unmistakable. We only had a handful of occasions to chat, but I enjoyed each of those encounters, and he left an indelible impression by virtue of his obvious passion and inventive mind. I have always held him in high regard and always will. My affection for the entire family is never going to change, and I will try to focus on the many positives about Kenny, whenever I reflect on his life. Gone too soon, but he left his mark in so many hearts and minds. To my way of thinking, that is a fine and admirable legacy, one we all should be so lucky to leave behind. Much love to the family. You are wonderful people who have a lot to offer this world.

my dearest kenny, you and your family have my whole heart. i will always hold dear every riotous moment we spent together. I still have the dress we made together. i always play kings with the new rules you made up. i still wish i could do my makeup as good as you did it for me. i hear your songs in my heart and your voice in my head. i smile when thinking of your smile. i lament all the times we wanted to get together and never got around to it. i laugh when i think of all the ridiculous things youd say. i miss how much fun we'd have in the car on the way to bars. we never had a dull moment. every visit was always special. i miss you terribly. i love you so much.

Elliott, Diane, Krystal & family, No words can express how I feel for you all. I will always remember Kenny as this bundle of endless energy & talent ready to set this world on fire! A few years ago I used to lead a HS Bible study at church - what a challenge! I thank God I knew I always had two kids I could count on Kenny & Krystal. May God's grace & mercy continue to be with your family.
