Chili - Suddenly, Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at age 69. Predeceased by his parents, Paul & Rita Bietry. Survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Patricia (Coon); siblings, Anne (Thomas) Quartley, Joseph (Teresa) Bietry and David (Carol) Coon; uncle, John Stich; loyal companion, Blaze; 5 fur ones; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
 
Herb was a graduate of Holy Ghost Grammar School, Cardinal Mooney High School and St. John Fisher College. He then earned his Master's in Theology at St. Bernard's Institute. Herb was a retiree of Baker Commodities after 36 years of service. He was a lifelong member of the Chili Fire Dept., where he served as Treasurer for 25 years, and a member of the former Chili Ambulance Squad 1. As an ordained minister of the Permanent Diaconate of the Diocese of Rochester, he served at St. Marianne Cope Parish in Henrietta and was a current Deacon at the Parish of the Holy Family in Gates.
 
The family wishes to thank the staff at Monroe Community Hospital for the care and support.
 
Friends may call at the Parish of the Holy Family, 4100 Lyell Rd. Rochester, NY 14606, where Herb will lie in state on Tuesday from 10:30AM -1:00PM. His Funeral Mass will immediately follow calling at 1:00PM at church. Interment, Holy Ghost Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Chili Fire Dept. 3231 Chili Ave. Rochester, NY 14624.

Dear Pat, John and I are so sad to hear of the sudden passing of Deacon Herb. He was a wonderful man. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this trying time. We wish we could attend the funeral but we will be out of town. Blessings!

Pat & family, my sincere condolences for your loss. I knew Herb from my time at the Chili Fire Dept. and Holy Ghost Church. He was great man and will be missed by many. God bless you and help you through this difficult time.
